With the recent teacher protests, I think it's safe to say that Oklahoma schools are struggling right now though they do enjoy community support and some dedicated teachers. We are slated for Briggs Elementary and Tahlequah High (go Tigers!). Exemptions can be granted for attendance at other elementary schools but they are hard to get.

We homeschool so state laws regarding such were very important to us.

Oklahoma is amazing in terms of allowing parent freedom. A parent may choose curriculum without having to teach to a state-administered test and there are no hoops to jump through.

Oklahoma is the only state that has the right to homeschool written into its constitution.

Tahlequah has a robust homeschool community--a quick Facebook search will take you to their page.

From the state education website: "Homeschools are not regulated and Oklahoma law does not require parents to register with or seek approval from state or local officials, conduct state testing with their students, or permit public school officials to visit or inspect homes."
